What does an Urban Conservancy mean?

Discover the beauty of the Urban Conservancy. Yzerfontein has an array of Flora and Fauna unique to our region. Our beach roost breeding grounds of the Endangered African Black Oystercatchers. Between July and January whales and dolphins frolic in the bay.

We have wild Ostriches roaming in the fynbos, although they might look tame, please respect their space and give them a wide berth. Be on the lookout for some of our indigenous snake species. Do not walk in the field. Do not pick up tortoises. Do not feed the Dassies. Do not pick the fynbos or wild flowers. The west Coast explorers club is working with the Yzerfontein Conservancy to promote awareness and preserve our flora and fauna for the next generations to come.
